Rabbi Sidlofsky:  Barry and I want you to know how proud we are to be members of a Temple of Israel.  We so appreciate how welcoming everyone was to our friends and neighbors.  You set the perfect tone for the (Invite Your Neighbor) service and answered questions before they were even a thought.  Thank you for bringing (our history, our culture and our traditions) to life for them.

Shalom Rabbi Sidlofsky,

I wanted to reach out to you and say what a joy it was for our family to celebrate Shabbat at TOI and with its community. You have a beautiful Temple and a lovely group of congregants that made us feel very welcome. We look forward to our next trip to Oak Island and visiting TOI again soon.

Dear Rabbi Paul,
I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful Shabbat service last night. My family enjoyed the service and the blessing to honor our non-Jewish partners in life was so kind and very much appreciated.
Thank you for all you do. We are lucky to have you as our Rabbi.
Please send my love to your wonderful wife!
Kind regards,
Rebecca and Larry DePreta

Dear Rabbi Paul,
Steven and I cannot thank you enough for the wonderful experience that we had at Friday Shabbat services a few weeks ago.
Everyone...Glenn Tetterton, Joel & Melanie, the Rotzes, your lovely wife....made us feel so welcome, spending time with us.
Your congregation is so vital and interesting.
See you next year!

From Myrna Cronin:  It seems we all experienced the warmth and friendliness of TOI when we first arrived and that is why we are now members and eager to help others feel welcomed. Verne and I were welcomed by many including Josh and Karen Vogel who invited us for brunch when we were here house hunting. Shortly after we moved into our new home we went to Friday evening services. We were greeted by Paul and Wendy Sidlofsky, also new arrivals, and many others.  I particularly remember Harriet Eisen and Ellen Balser asking where we lived and telling us that there were TOI members in our neighborhood. The next day Marge and Myron Swetlitz rang our doorbell and the day after Larry Fried stopped by. Being new and somewhat lonely in our new home, it gave a wonderful lift to our spirits. We came to TOI looking for a Jewish home and we found it.

Thanks so much to the docents who volunteered at the Temple during the Azalea Festival Home Tour last weekend. Twenty-one member volunteers participated during this remarkable turnout.  Many great comments were heard, such as, "best stop on the tour this year." Thanks to all for making this a tremendous success and a wonderful display of our congregation.

Special thanks to Beverly & Glenn Tetterton for their exceptional efforts.

During the months of January and February 2013 the Membership Committee coordinated several Shabbat dinners in their homes. Here’s what a few of them had to say:

"The Temple Shabbat dinner was a wonderful opportunity to meet and interact with members of the Temple that we'd had limited contact with in the past....." - Arlene and Stan Weinrich
"Our Shabbat meal at the Apple's was so lovely in every way.  This activity is suited to those new in town (like us) or those who have been around!  You have a chance to visit with other congregants, and get to know them in a more intimate setting." -  Nancy and Jeffrey Brudney
"Vernon and I spent a lovely evening at the home of Harriet and Richard Eisen. We had a potluck dinner on Saturday night...which was relaxing and conducive to learning more about the Eisens as well as other guests Sue Abramsky and Harold Sparr." - Myrna Cronen
"To Hosts Sandy and Jim Apple: I can't tell you enough about what a wonderful Purim dinner you hosted last night.  I was totally overwhelmed to be a part of it..." - Genie Lancaster

"As a newer member of the Temple, my family and I have been received wonderfully by the Rabbi and the entire staff at Temple of Israel.  We have participated and been included in many of the programs and events offered throughout the year and have really enjoyed watching our young children celebrate the holidays and learn the meaning of Judaism and the feeling of community. Our oldest child attends the religious school on Sundays and looks forward to this all week... which has been the most important and fulfilling part for us, as parents, as he is learning his faith, being introduced to all the prayers and traditions and creating a lifelong journey with his religion.  Thanks to Rabbi Sidlofsky and the entire staff." - Aran Kagan
