Life Cycle Events

Baby Naming

Our Temple has been blessed with a recent influx of young families and the birth of many babies.  Each one is special to us, representing new life and the future of Judaism. We celebrate the great blessing of a newborn child with a ceremony, and confer upon him/her a Hebrew name.  We conduct a Brit Milah (Bris) ceremony for boys and a Brit Banot ceremony for girls.  Our rabbi can help you think through and design this ceremony, combining Jewish tradition with personal touches.

Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Bar/Bat Mitzvah students are moving from childhood to adulthood, from learning to be responsible to being responsible. As son or daughter of the commandments, you commit yourself to proud membership in our ancient people.  We offer a very successful Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparation process.  Each of our growing number of students is fully and individually tutored by Rabbi Emily, who works with each student and family to ensure complete preparation and a personal and meaningful ceremony.

Wedding

Temple of Israel is happy to perform weddings at our beautiful, historic Temple, or at another approved site of your choosing.  Call the Temple office for information if you are not a member.  Rabbi Emily will work with each couple to create a ceremony that combines Jewish tradition with aspects that make your special day personally meaningful to you.

Funeral

Rabbi Emily helps comfort and guide individuals and families through this sensitive time, working to meet all of your needs and coordinating with local funeral homes to create a meaningful and personal ceremony for a funeral or unveiling.  Temple of Israel provides a beautiful cemetery location, including a cremation garden, and will assist you in planning in advance or following a loved one’s passing.
