Temple of Israel is a vibrant, warm, and caring congregation of approximately 200 families.  Our membership is represented by all ages including singles, families with young children, empty nesters, and retirees.

We are affiliated with the Union of Reform Judaism (URJ) and follow the practices of Reform Judaism.  Temple of Israel is an inclusive community, where everyone is welcome regardless of sexual orientation, race, whether a Jew by birth or choice.  Interfaith couples and families are welcomed and encouraged to take an active role in all activities.  While many of our members are long time congregants, numerous others are relatively new additions to the Wilmington area.

We greet the infusion of new individuals and families and welcome everyone’s unique perspective and creative ideas.  We encourage everyone to share their time and talents and offer many opportunities to get involved in our congregational family.

Rabbi Emily Losben-Ostrov is our Religious leader and our Religious School Director.  We have a very active Religious School, Sisterhood, and Men’s Club, many committees and groups, plus a full calendar of adult education, social activities, religious observance and celebrations of social action programs.

If you would like to learn more about the Temple of Israel and how you can join our family, please contact the Temple office at 910-762-0000.

Our Membership Committee chairperson, Myrna Cronen, will be happy to answer your questions and provide further information. Also, if you would like to be placed on our monthly bulletin mailing list, please contact Myrna.

No one will be denied membership due to financial difficulties.

If you have not already done so, we encourage you to experience Temple of Israel first hand.  Come to our Shabbat services and stay for the Oneg or attend another Temple event, meet the rabbi, and other members of the congregation.
